Agnes's Beef Plov


Ingredients:

  • 350g wholegrain rice, 
  • 750g of beef braising steak,
  • 2 onions,
  • 4 carrots, 
  • Half handful of dried mushrooms,
  • A pack of chestnut mushrooms,
  • 2 tsp turmeric,
  • 2 tsp salt,
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper,
  • 2 tsp ground cumin,
  • 2 tsp ground coriander,
  • 2 tsp paprika,
  • 3 dry bay leaves,
  • 1 head of garlic,
  • 1 tbsp. of oil.

Recipe:

First cut beef into 1inch chunks, and fry it in a hot frying pan on the oil. Once cooked and golden take them to the big pot. Then add chopped onions and dried mushrooms and cook for 3 minutes. 

Add all spices except a head of garlic and cook for another 5 mins. Then add the chopped mushrooms and cover with 1.5 cup of water and braise for 30mins.

 

Wash wholegrain rice and add it on top of everything.


Do not mix!

 

Add 3-4 cups of water so rice is covered by two fingers and stick the head of garlic in the middle. Do not open the lid and leave it to boil for 15 minutes. 



After 15 mins, remove from the stove and wrap it in a big fluffy bath towel for the next 45 mins without opening the lid. After 45 minutes take the garlic head out and squeeze garlic out and chop it and put back in the pot.


Mix everything together and serve.
